EHIS and KOFIH agreed to pilot a case-based payment mechanism for hospital inpatient services. This follows the successful rollout of capitation and performance-based payment mechanisms for outpatient care. The pilot will initially cover three hospitals selected to reflect differences in case mix and hospital tier levels. In parallel, a feasibility study will run to review each hospital’s current payment data and assess readiness before the pilot begins.

EHIS and KOFIH have agreed to pilot a case-based payment mechanism for hospital inpatient services to improve strategic purchasing and hospital payment systems. The pilot will initially cover three hospitals selected to represent different case-mix profiles and tier levels. A feasibility study will be conducted in parallel to review each hospital's current payment data before the pilot begins. This initiative builds on the successful rollout of capitation and performance-based payment mechanisms for outpatient care and provides a foundation for the next phase of health financing reform.
